There still is time to register or donate scholarships for the second annual Topeka Community Conversation on Poverty, to be held at Washburn University on Tuesday, June 16.
Organized by the AmeriCorps VISTA office at the Washburn Center for Community and Civic Engagement and by a group of committed Topeka residents, the event will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the VISTA program.
The VISTA 50th Anniversary TCCOP will be a day-long un-conference session, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Washburn University Memorial Union. The un-conference model allows participants to set the agenda through a democratic brainstorming and voting process. Throughout the day, participants will share ideas and have meaningful conversation that can help move the greater Topeka community forward in its efforts to alleviate poverty.
Registration is free to those who have financial need and $20 for all others. Register online by Friday by visiting http://www.washburn.edu/tccop. Individuals also can donate scholarships from that page. Lunch and conference materials will be provided for all participants.
