This field course is located off-site in the Flint Hills so come prepared to spend a day in the field. Ages 16 and up. Youth ages 12-15 may be accompanied by an adult. Limited to 12 participants.

Participants will gain hands on experience with primitive living skills associated with long term situations. This workshop explores ancestral nature-based living, food procurement, materials construction and shelters. Participants will have ample opportunity to apply techniques during the course that are unique to the prairie environment. Completion of Primitive Skills Workshop I is recommended but not required. Additional workshops are available on Saturday, June 20 and Saturday, August 15.
Instructor Daniel Schapaugh is an Education Specialist at the Flint Hills Discovery Center. In the last 20 years, he has taught a variety of outdoor skills workshops and credit courses through K-State Global Campus, KDWPT, BSA and UFM.
