Joey Tartell has toured and recorded with Maynard Ferguson, the Woody Herman Orchestra and the U.S. Army’s Jazz Ambassadors. He has also performed with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Tartell has performed with amazing artists such as Doc Severinsen, Aretha Franklin, Don Henley and The Manhattan Transfer. Currently, he serves as an associate professor of music (trumpet)and the director of Undergraduate Studies at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Tartell will share the stage with the group The New York Times describes as “one of America’s most esteemed concert bands.” The University of Kansas Wind Ensemble features the finest wind and percussion players at the university. The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, author, performer and proponent of distinctive new music.
