KU Natural History Museum Event, Science on Tap- The Kansas Watershed: Flow, Flooding, & Management

Date:

Wednesday, September 18, 2019 - 19:30

Location:

Free State Brewing Co., 636 Massachusetts St., Lawrence KS

Description: A watershed is much more than a drainage area in and around our communities. It provides drinking water for people and wildlife, diverse native landscapes, habitat, water for gardens, produces energy and is the basic foundation for life. Within each watershed, water travels through streams – some protected and some not. Learn about the Kansas River watershed, the streams that form it, flood control, irrigation and how river management works during a flood season. Our guest will be Dawn Buehler, of Friends of the Kaw. Submitted by: KU Natural History Museum KU Natural History Museum
