KPR Presents 10th Anniversary Show

KPR Presents, hosted by Kaye McIntyre, turns 10 this November. The show, which airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on KPR, and Thursdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. on KPR2, showcases high-profile, thought-provoking lectures, discussions and dialogues recorded throughout the KPR listening area.

KPR Presents first aired in November of 2006. The show featured a poetry reading by Andrei Codrescu in its initial broadcast.

The show was originally envisioned as a way to broadcast great lectures that come to the University of Kansas, organized by the Dole Institute of Politics, School of Business, the Hall Center for Humanities and more. KPR has also reached out to other institutions and broadcast their lectures. Those include the Kansas State University Landon Lecture Series and the Truman Presidential Library's Bennett Forum on the Presidency. In recent years, KPR has expanded the format a bit to include author interviews and more heavily produced shows.

Some of Kaye McIntyre’s favorites shows are KU's 150th anniversary, Kansas A to Z (marking the state's 150th anniversary), Kansas in the movies, a "Big Read" show about Fahrenheit 451 which included interviewing Ray Bradbury, and Kaye’s yearly favorite: the annual "Kansas Notable Books" show interviewing many of the authors of the best new books about Kansas or by Kansans.

KPR will mark the 10th anniversary by rebroadcasting that first show with Codrescu on November 13. This weekend, on Sunday, 11/6, tune in to hear “Do All Votes Matter?” With the election right around the corner, it's a Washburn University panel discussion on voter registration and voting rights, moderated by Washburn law professor and host of KTWU's I've Got Issues, Janet Thompson Jackson.

Here's to 10 years more!
