KC Wind Symphony Presents "A Celebration of Music and Art"

The Kansas City Wind Symphony continues their 18th season, "Nights of Dreams, Imagination and Magic" with a free concert at Village Presbyterian Church located at 67th and Mission Road in Prairie Village, Kansas. The program is slated for March 13, 2016, at 7:00 P.M. Entitled "From Russia With Love” the program features guest pianist Kairy Koshoeva performing Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2.” The second part of the program features Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” with an art exhibit and projected art works by local artists. Dr. Koshoeva recently relocated to New Jersey and joined the faculty at the nationally recognized New School for Music Study in the Princeton area. Kairy earned her Doctor of Musical Art degree from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  While in the Kansas City area, she appeared as soloist in numerous venues including the Kansas City Wind Symphony and held teaching positions at Avila University, Kansas City Community College, UMKC-Conservatory of Music, and Park University. She has won awards around the globe including the top prize at the International Piano Competition in Vicenza, Italy, the N. Rubinstein Competition in Paris, France, was a Gold Medal winner of the Rachmaninoff Award in Moscow, Russia, and was awarded first prize at Chautauqua Music Festival in New York. In 2003 she was named Honored Artist of her native country Kyrgyzstan.  The ensemble is a member of the Village Arts Alliance of Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, that includes the Kansas City Wind Symphony, Te Deum Chamber Choir and the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. The Kansas City Wind Symphony is conducted by Dr. Phil Posey and Ms. Pat Setser.
