Kansas Poetry Out Loud State Contest

Description: High school students from across the state will vie for the title of Kansas Poetry Out Loud champion March 4 earning the right to represent the state at the National Poetry Out Loud contest held in Washington D.C. April 24- 26. The contest begins at 4 PM and will be held in the Salina Community Theatre Sunflower Financial black box theater. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Students will present three memorized poems taken from an anthology of almost 1000 poems ranging from the classics to contemporary. The event is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts , the Poetry Foundation and the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission. Submitted by: Deb Kohn Kansas Poetry Out Loud
