Community Blood Center and Governor Sam Brownback are partnering for the fourth Governor's Blood Drive held at the State Capitol Building on Tuesday, December 22nd. This blood drive comes at a crucial time – donations typically decrease during the winter months, and this year’s falloff was significantly sharper than expected. Preparation for the holidays, cold and flu season, and school breaks are some factors that contribute to fewer blood donations during the winter months. State employees and citizens are urged to participate at the drive or donate at a CBC donor center through the New Year to help increase the community’s blood supply.
Governor Brownback will lead with opening remarks at 10:30 a.m. and greet donors afterwards. As a thank you, all presenting donors will receive a limited edition long-sleeved holiday shirt.
Location: State Capitol Building, 310 SW 10th St., Topeka, KS 66612
Date/Time: December 22, 2015, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Note: The media are welcome to cover the drive and are encouraged to arrive between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for best visuals. Governor Brownback will make opening remarks at 10:30 a.m. Community Blood Center spokespersons will be available for interviews.
