Fundraiser for Banner Creek Science Center Saturday June 20 Features Bands, Beer Garden and Concessions

On Saturday, June 20, finding out about our solar system and the universe becomes easier — and fun. The Banner Creek Observatory and Science Center, Holton, Kan., is presenting an entertainment-heavy fundraiser for the surrounding community.
The one-day event is at the Banner Creek Reservoir in Holton, Kan., 30 miles north of Topeka, 35 miles west of Atchison and 60 miles northeast of Manhattan. Banner Creek Reservoir is 1.5 miles west of Holton on Kansas 16 highway.
 Among the entertainment options:
·      Three bands to headline the show: Atomic Suede, Blackwater and Kangaroo Ali.
·      Beer Garden and other concessions
·      Drawings for free Pepsi products
·      Dunk tank at 4 p.m., featuring local high school cheerleaders
·     Free parking on the Reservoir grounds
·     Camping at the Reservoir is available.
Admission:  Kindergarten-age to 12, $5, 13 and up, $10
“This event is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our community for supporting this science and education center,
and a wonderful opportunity for people in northeast Kansas to see their universe up close,” says Mike McManigal, a Banner Creek Science Center Board Member. “The detail from space is breathtaking.”
Proceeds from the event go to the Banner Creek Science Center, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization. Funds are allocated by the Board of Directors and are used for educational programs and classes for the community, additional equipment for teaching, day-to-day supplies, and monthly operational expenses to keep the center open to the public.
