Calvary University Masterworks

Description: Calvary University’s Masterworks Chorus Presents Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah." The Calvary Masterworks Chorus invites you to enjoy an evening of classical music as they present Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah." "Elijah" is an epic retelling of the Old Testament story of the prophet Elijah. Alongside Handel’s "Messiah," this piece is considered one of the greatest oratorios ever written with music that conveys sheer power and emotion. Mendelssohn was determined that the drama of the story should be of central importance, and dramatic it certainly is! A story of a curse that brings the scourge of drought, followed by despair, wickedness, cruelty, relief, tenderness, and mercy. The turmoil is finally resolved in an impassioned chorus of praise to the “Lord, our Creator.” Please join us on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. at Blue River Bible Church, 15608 Fairchild Dr., Kansas City, MO 64147 to hear this wonderful Masterwork.
