Bowling for Rhinos

Description: What’s better than bowling? Bowling for a global cause that started here in Kansas City 30 years ago! This March marks the 30th anniversary for the Greater Kansas City American Association of Zoo Keepers’ (GKC AAZK) nationally recognized bowl-a-thon: Bowling for Rhinos. Bowling for Rhinos (BFR) was originated in 1987 by a group of Kansas City zoo keepers that were concerned about the plight of rhinos in Africa. Their desire to help has led to an annual, national event that has raised over $6.6 million. Over the past 30 years, the Kansas City community has helped our chapter raise over $120,000. This historic event will be held at Premier Bowling in Raytown, MO on Sunday, March 5 from 6:00-9:30 pm. The GKC AAZK invite YOU to join us to bowl, have fun, and raise much needed funds for the conservation of endangered rhinos and the ecosystems they inhabit. Rhinos have lived on Earth for over 50 million years, but may not survive the next 50. Rhinos are poached for their horns and poaching is being conducted by sophisticated international criminal syndicates that smuggle horns to Asia. Registration is $20 per person and includes 3 games and shoe rental. Register between 6:00 and 6:30 pm the evening of the event or pre-register by February 18 and receive a FREE BFR t-shirt! Registration information can be found by visiting: Collect donations to win BFR swag! Prizes for top male and female bowler. Enjoy other events during the bowl-a-thon such as our raffle and silent auction. All donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of donated funds go to Bowling for Rhinos’ conservation projects. Individuals can support Bowling for Rhinos in several ways: Become an event sponsor or sponsor a bowler Bowl as an individual or team to raise money Donate an item to be used in the raffle or silent auction All of the proceeds from the national BFR events go to supporting three rhino sanctuaries in Indonesia, Sumatra and Kenya, while also raising community participation with Action for Cheetahs in Kenya.
