The Angelman Syndrome Walk will be on Saturday, May 21 at 10 am at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe. Registration is at 9 am. We are walking to raise money for research for Angelman Syndrome, a neurological disorder that occurs in 1 in 15,000 individuals in the US. Angelman Syndrome causes global developmental delays, seizures, issues with feeding, walking, speaking, learning, and many more symptoms that make full-time care a necessity.
Recent research has cured AS in the mouse model. Research has also shown that AS individuals can learn and can communicate with the help of technology, such as an iPad. This is why fundraisers such as the ASF Walk are so vital for children and adults living with AS, as well as their families.
