The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble performance.

Chamber ensemble adds winds to perform Schubert Octet
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Johnson County Community College.
The concert, in the Carlsen Center’s Polsky Theatre, will feature works by Mozart, Strauss and Schubert. Tickets, which are $30, are available through the JCCC Box Office at 913-469-4445 or online here. A preshow talk will begin at 7 p.m. For information about other upcoming performing arts events, visit
The chamber ensemble was created in 1967 to perform the larger chamber works – from quintets to octets – with players who customarily work together instead of the usual string quartet with additional guests. The chamber ensemble, drawn from the principal players of the orchestra, tours to France, Germany, Spain, Australia, North America and South America.
This eight-member ensemble plays with immaculate technique, dramatic power and expressive scope.  Here’s the program for the JCCC performance:
Mozart: Divertimento in D major, K.136/125a
Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel – Einmal Anders, Op. 28
Arranged as a Frolic by Franz Hasenöhrl (1885-1970)
Schubert: Octet in F major for Winds and Strings, D.803
