Description:

Canadian actor and uber geek, Charles Ross, brings his solo madcap creation, "One- Man Star Wars Trilogy," to the stage in this mind-bending whirlwind of a show. Ross retells the classic bad hair trilogy in 60 minutes — no costumes, no props, no sets — all the characters, the music, the ships and the battles. If your kid's name is Chewbacca, this show is a no-brainer. If not, get your nerd on and experience the global sensation loved by audiences from London's West End, off-Broadway, Dubai, the Sydney Opera House, Lucasfilm and Charlie's mom. The Force is strong with this one.

Description: Founded in 1971 by Artistic Director Brenda Way, who trained under the legendary George Balanchine, ODC originated as Oberlin Dance Collective. It was named after Oberlin College in Ohio, where Way was on faculty. The adventurous artists loaded up a yellow school bus and relocated to San Francisco in 1976. Since those early days, the company has been widely recognized for its rigorous technique and for its numerous groundbreaking collaborations. It has performed for more than a million people in 32 states and 11 countries. They aim to inspire audiences, cultivate artists, engage community, and foster diversity and inclusion through dance. The company will be performing boulders and bones. ODC will be joined by KU’s University Dance Company. UDC is a pre-professional performance ensemble that performs locally, regionally and nationally. Submitted by: Madi Schulz Lied Center of Kansas

Description: Calvary University’s Masterworks Chorus Presents Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah." The Calvary Masterworks Chorus invites you to enjoy an evening of classical music as they present Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah." "Elijah" is an epic retelling of the Old Testament story of the prophet Elijah. Alongside Handel’s "Messiah," this piece is considered one of the greatest oratorios ever written with music that conveys sheer power and emotion. Mendelssohn was determined that the drama of the story should be of central importance, and dramatic it certainly is! A story of a curse that brings the scourge of drought, followed by despair, wickedness, cruelty, relief, tenderness, and mercy. The turmoil is finally resolved in an impassioned chorus of praise to the “Lord, our Creator.” Please join us on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. at Blue River Bible Church, 15608 Fairchild Dr., Kansas City, MO 64147 to hear this wonderful Masterwork. Ticket costs - $10.00 Adults, $7.00 for Seniors 65+/Students, Children 4 and under are Free. Tickets are available at Calvary University switchboard or online at www.calvary.edu. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on a first come, first serve basis. We advise you to purchase your tickets in advance to be sure to get a seat.
