Description: Our unique and popular Civil War program for kids returns as part of Civil War on the Western Frontier! This year's School of the Soldier is expanded to 90 minutes of fun and educational activities in which kids age 7-12 will get to experience Civil War soldier life. During the Civil War, recruits did a training program called the School of the Soldier. On Saturday, August 19, kids can take part in an enlistment ceremony, learn how to march, and go on a scouting mission with their adults around the museum. There will be plenty of fun, souvenirs, and photo ops, all for a low registration fee of $5 per child. Registration is limited to 20 kids, so registering in advance is recommended. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Register by calling the Watkins at 785-841-4109 or by visiting www.watkinsmuseum.org/cwwf.php Submitted by: Will Hickox Watkins Museum of History
