Description: Asher Fisch, guest conductor George Li, piano CHOPIN Piano Concerto No. 1 BRAHMS Variations on a Theme by Haydn WAGNER Suite from Die Meistersinger Chopin’s compositions capture the sensitivity and self-expression of the Romantic era while upholding a sense of classic purity. His First Piano Concerto highlights the soloist’s elegant and virtuosic technique, all capped by a lively Polish folk dance. Composed three years before his First Symphony, Brahms’ glowing Haydn Variations is an early work of an orchestral master. These Kansas City Symphony concerts close with a jubilant jaunt from Wagner’s comic opera, The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, which is bursting with melody and high spirits from first note to last. Tickets start at $25. Submitted by: Beth Buchanan Kansas City Symphony
