A: Moline (in Elk County)
The city of Moline is located in Elk County, in southeast Kansas. (Flickr Photo by Jimmy Emerson, DVM) Moline is a small town of less than 400 people, located in Elk County, in southeast Kansas. The swinging footbridge over Wildcat Creek in Moline was built in 1904, making it the oldest swinging bridge in Kansas. And it’s still in use! The bridge itself is just a block west of Main Street. Along the river, you’ll also find a couple of small waterfalls and a picnic area.
Fun factoid: U.S. Air Force General Leon William Johnson grew up in Moline. This 4-star general served in World War II and earned the military’s highest award, the Medal of Honor.
