Shocking Sports Facts! - January 17, 2014

Q: The undefeated Wichita State basketball team is ranked 5th in the nation! And, at 18-and-0, the Shockers are off to their best start in school history. Two Wichita State players were All-Staters for their respective Kansas high schools in both basketball AND football. Name both players. (Extra credit if you can name their high schools!)

As of today (01/17/14), the WSU men's basketball team remains undefeated this season at 18-and-0.

A: Ron Baker (Scott City High School) and Evan Wessel (Wichita Heights High School)

Ron Baker

Evan WesselWichita State University basketball players Ron Baker and Evan Wessel have helped the Shockers become one of the nation's Top Five teams this season. Last year, Wichita State made it to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament. And, as of today (01/17/14), the Shockers remain undefeated this season at 18-and-0. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised, given the athleticism of some of its players. Before joining WSU, Ron Baker was an All-Stater for Scott City High School in both basketball and football. His Shocker teammate, Evan Wessel, was also an All-Stater in both sports at his high school, Wichita Heights. Go Shockers!
