Halloween comes early to Cinema a Go-Go with a blood-dripped double feature guaranteed to produce screams...of disbelief.
Vincent Price hams it up in William Castle's The Tingler (1959), a movie with a creepy killer, LSD trips and the Tingler itself, which gets loose in a drafty movie theatre (any resemblance to Liberty Hall is entirely coincidental). Also, from 1957, global panic ensues when a monster bird from outer space starts gobbling up aircraft and bit players in The Giant Claw, which boasts one of the most ludicrous "monsters" ever put on film!
Join us at Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence, Friday, October 21. Tickets are $8, available at the doors, which open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7.
Some Incredible Movie Lines
The Tingler:
Scream! Scream for your lives!
Warren: "Look at that Tingler, Dave, it's an ugly and dangerous thing! Ugly because it's the creation of man's fear, which is ugly too. Dangerous because...because a frightened man is dangerous."
The Giant Claw:
Mitch: "Let's face that and then try and do something about that bird!"
Gen. Considine: "Any suggestions, MacAfee?"
Gen. Buskirk: "Sure, electronic spitballs."
Gen. Considine: "Van!"
Mitch: "Close general, close. Only not electronic spitballs. Atomic spitballs!"
