Big Band Christmas 2018

Get ready for a cool Yule when KPR presents a Big Band Christmas, our holiday concert served up by the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, special guest vocalist Molly Hammer, and emcee David Basse.

Our tenth annual celebration of holiday tunes is Saturday, Dec. 8, 8 p.m., at Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence. Doors open at 7 p.m.

You can buy reserved seats on the floor, either as a table of 10 ($300), a table of 4 ($120), or individual reserved seats ($30). (Reserved seating is SOLD OUT.)  Seating in the balcony is general admission and runs $20 a ticket. The dance floor will be open to balcony and floor seating.  A service charge may be added to your order. Tickets are available at the Liberty Hall box office or  ticketmaster.com. Tickets may also be available the night of the concert, but they are selling fast!  The Liberty Hall ticket office is cash only.

Molly Hammer has been performing in the Kansas City area since 2005. With an eclectic vocal background, she has found her home in the world of jazz and blues, drawing inspiration from the likes of Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington, Sara Vaughn and many others. She has had the privilege of performing with some of the finest jazz musicians in the Kansas City area. You can hear her regularly at The Green Lady Lounge. She can also be seen and heard at one of the many Unity Churches in the area nearly every Sunday. Molly is a graduate of the Artist INC program and has also had the honor of singing the National Anthem for both the Royals and the Chiefs.

Formed in 2003, the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra brings many of the region's greatest jazz musicians together to perform big band jazz in a concert setting. The KCJO is under the direction of Clint Ashlock, Kansas City native and trumpeter.

Healing Smiles Dentistry in Topeka is the official sponsor of Big Band Christmas 2018.
