KPR to Broadcast Day of Live Classical Music on October 26

On October 26, Kansas Public Radio will broadcast its inaugural KPR Live Day, which is made possible by an arts grant from the City of Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission and a partnership with the Lawrence Public Library.

Tabor College faculty members Jen Stephenson, soprano, and J. Bradley Baker, piano, will kick off the event at 9 a.m. in the KPR Live Performance Studio.

The Bach Aria Soloists, comprised of a violin, harpsichord and soprano, will directly follow at 10 a.m. in the Lawrence Public Library atrium, which will be open to the public.

Performances will continue to alternate every hour between the KPR Live Performance Studio and the Lawrence Public Library atrium until the final performance at 2 p.m., with a group consisting of University of Kansas viola and flute professors, along with harpist Erin Wood.

Additional performers include Meredith McCook of the Kansas City Symphony with pianist Sean Chen, Brazilian and classical guitarist Bráulio Bosi from the UMKC faculty, and the Washburn University Faculty Brass Quintet.

KPR’s Michael Keelan, Darrell Brodgon, and Cordelia Brown will host the broadcast, and evening classical music host Cordelia Brown will present highlights from the event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 91.5 FM or online at kansaspublicradio.org.
