Kansas Voting Regulations: What You Need to Know

Earlier in July, the state board adopted a regulation proposed by Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s office allowing thousands of Kansas voters whose registrations were suspended to vote in federal elections but not in state and local races. The office then presented it to the State Rules & Regulations board as temporary to bypass the elaborate process required for permanent regulations, which includes a period of 60 days for public comment on the matter, not necessary for temporary regulations. Dan Margolies, editor at KCUR's Heartland Health Monitor, breaks down how this all happened, what the State Rules and Regulation Board is, and what it all means.
